On October 27, 2012 a ceremony was held in Almaty to present awards to the winners of the VI Annual National Prize of the Public Altyn Zhurek.
Altyn Zhurek is the first and only award in the Republic of Kazakhstan that recognizes charitable contributions and the implementation of social projects. The project Organizer is the Public Charitable Foundation Baurzhan.
For the first time, Tengizchevroil this year competed for this award. For its achievements in the field of corporate social responsibility, TCO was awarded the “Organization of the Year” diploma.
"We take very seriously the issue of corporate social responsibility”, said Rzabek Artygaliev, General Manager, Policy, Government & Public Affiars. “Corporate responsibility is not just about what we give back to our communities or how we treat our employees. Our definition includes our ethics, our environmental performance and how we collaborate with our employees, the Government and our local communities”. Artygaliev also noted that the TCO Corporate Responsibility principles “ensure that TCOs social programs provide measurable benefit to the community”.
In the Atyrau Oblast, TCO funded and organized a project to provide advanced training for doctors and teachers. The company also funded an existing project, developed by the Association of Family Physicians of Kazakhstan, for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. The joint program of TCO and the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia in 2011 was awarded a special prize of the Kazenergy Association and was honored at the World Petroleum Congress in the capital city of Qatar Doha.
TCO will continue to contribute to the social development of the region within the existing range of initiatives and projects.
