When it comes to local content, measuring our performance is important to track our success. Calculation and reporting of Kazakhstani content spent is one of the legal requirements for TCO. It’s in our best interests to ensure that TCO suppliers are familiar with methodology of KC calculation. On a quarterly basis we conduct relevant training for our Business Partners that cover certain aspects of Subsoil Use Code and governmental decrees, which govern the calculation of local content, basic concepts and definitions, and examples of calculating KC in goods and services spent. Please note that this training is dedicated to TCO’s current suppliers and contractors only.
On April 23–24, 2026, AtyrauGeo‑2026 VI International Scientific and Practical Geological Conference, organized by the Kazakhstan Society of Petroleum Geologists (KSPG), was held in Atyrau. The event brought together around 250 specialists from more than six countries, as well as representatives of the Atyrau Oblast Akimat, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas National Company JSC, the KAZENERGY Association, relevant industry organizations, and the scientific community.
Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) served as one of the key participants and a gold sponsor of the conference, supporting industry dialog and professional collaboration.

Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akbarov noted that “the oil and gas industry has entered a new phase, in which oil and gas professionals are faced with the challenge of exploring for and producing hydrocarbons at ultra‑deep horizons. This, in turn, requires the development and application of advanced technologies.”
The Tengiz field is known as one of the deepest and most technologically complex oil fields under development worldwide. As a result of the implementation of new technologies and the commissioning of the Third Generation Plant in 2025, TCO’s crude oil production reached 39 million tons.
As part of the conference, a book about Kazakh geologist and petroleum engineer Baltabek Kuandykov, the founder of KSPG, was also presented. TCO provided sponsorship support for the publication of the book, thereby supporting an initiative to preserve the professional heritage of the geological industry.

As noted by Alexey Vysotskiy, TCO Reservoir Management Manager:
“Baltabek Mukhanovich’s contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s geological exploration industry and the advancement of the modern Tengiz field is of particular significance. We were sincerely pleased to support the preservation of his scientific and professional legacy, including through the publication of this book.”

During the conference, Baltabek Kuandykov’s contribution to the development of Kazakhstani professionals was also recognized. His work, knowledge, and professional principles played an important role in the development of local specialists, many of whom now hold key positions within the company. It should be noted that as of the end of 2025, 96% of TCO employees were Kazakhstani nationals.
