"Digital Tengizchevroil-2022" Forum was held in Almaty. The Forum aims to explore Kazakhstani IT companies’ capabilities for further cooperation and development of digitalization.

The Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanat Zhakhmetova attended the Forum. She has highlighted the Government’s focus on energy industry digitalization, as well as Kazakhstani content development. “TCO's approach to develop digitalization is successful because IT professionals are focused on business tasks. We hope this Forum will help to establish cooperation between domestic IT companies and oil and gas companies," said Zhanat Zhakhmetova.

The TCO’s IT-professionals presented IT technologies that have been successfully implemented at Tengiz field. For example, the entire TCO car park has been equipped with an intelligent vehicle safety system. It allows to track driver’s fatigue level and gives an audio signal, which consequently helps to minimize road accidents and to maintain employees’ safety.

In 2020, the Virtual Plant solution combines real-time data from the Complex Technological Line (KTL) entire plant instrumentation, consequently enabling to increase the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). LPG production increase at Tengiz through digital technologies has helped compensate the impact of OPEC+ production constraints and optimize the value chain through digital solutions and rapid response to changes.

TCO Kazakhstani content development team educated representatives of IT companies on the actions they need to take to become a TCO supplier. IT professionals were also interested in local IT specialists capable to perform as technical (technical manager, .NET developers, DevOps engineers, QA testers) and non-technical roles (Change Management Specialists, Business Analysts (Business Analyst, Proxy Product Owners), including Low Code Developers: PowerApps, PowerBI.

“For TCO the Kazakhstani content development is one of the key priorities. Cooperation with domestic companies and investment in their capabilities’ development is important for us. Our goal is to increase number of IT specialists at most. Therefore, prior to the Forum, we held the #DigitalTCO2022 Hackathon. The teams that provide the best solution to a given problem will have an opportunity to become a supplier to TCO,” said Marat Kuatov, TCO Digitalization Champion.

It should be noted, that about 30 teams from all over Kazakhstan participated the Hackathon. According to Azidolla Kismetov, TCO Digitalization Consultant and one of the jury members, “not only the product was assessed, but the experience and competency of the company as a whole.”
