Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akbarov Visits the Tengiz Field

Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akbarov visited the Tengiz Field as part of a working trip to Atyrau Oblast and familiarized himself with the current production operations of Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO). 

During the visit, TCO Management provided the Vice Minister with an update on the company’s production performance, current operations, and key priorities going forward. 

In the first half of 2026, TCO produced 16.6 million metric tonnes, equivalent to approximately 132.5 million barrels. During the same period, the company sold around 2.67 billion cubic meters of sales gas, and approximately 619,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas. 

Vice Minister Yerlan Akbarov highlighted the importance of stable operation of major oil and gas enterprises for the industry and the country’s economy. 

“Production reliability and safety, as well as health and safety of every employee, remain key priorities in the continued development of Tengiz as one of Kazakhstan’s largest oil and gas projects. It is important for us to visit the site and gain first-hand insight into the current situation and company’s performance,” emphasized Mr.Akbarov. 

TCO Deputy General Director Kuanyshkerey Mukhtarov stressed the importance of engagement with the Ministry of Energy and the opportunity to demonstrate company’s operations directly at production site. 

“It is important for TCO to maintain an open and constructive dialogue with government authorities and to provide an on-site overview of our operations at Tengiz. Our priorities remain the safe and reliable operation of our facilities, stable production, and a long-term contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry,” Kuanyshkerey Mukhtarov said. 

During the visit, Production General Manager Bobby Hulett briefed the delegation on the operations of the Third Generation Plant (3GP), the Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC), and one of the producing wells. 

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr.Akbarov and Kuanyshkerey Mukhtarov held a detailed discussion on the Tengiz Field Development Plan and its long-term development prospects. The parties reviewed key areas for the further implementation of the project, upcoming stages of work, as well as measures to maintain stable production levels and ensure the reliable operation of existing facilities. The Vice Minister thanked the company’s workforce for their work and highly appreciated TCO’s contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry.
